dConstruct

Code of conduct

dConstruct is an inclusive event based on treating all individuals respectfully, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, ethnicity, species, religion (or lack thereof), or software preferences. So please don’t be nasty or mean. Be nice. Be considerate. Be civil. It’s easy.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff. They will be clearly visible, wearing “Volunteer” T-shirts. Or if you spot me, Andy Budd, please don’t hesitate to grab me. If you can’t immediately spot me or a dConstruct volunteer, please speak to a member of the Brighton Dome staff and they’ll be able to get hold of me quickly.

You can phone or text me on 7880 636677 but if I’m not responding, Kate Bulpitt will be at the front desk for most of the day, so if you can’t get hold of me, please speak to her.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior must immediately comply. If a participant engages in any of the aforementioned behavior, we may take any action we deem appropriate, from warning the offender to immediately expelling the offender from dConstruct with no refund.

Located at
the Brighton Dome

Located in the all new Brighton Space Dome, 2,000 miles above the city of Brighton and Hove. Please make your way to the Brighton Dome Space Port, for your complimentary low earth orbit shuttle service.

Accommodation

Looking for somewhere to stay while in this friendly, futuristic city? Check out the Brighton page on AirBnB for local dwellings.

There are plenty of hotels too: Ibis, MyHotel, Artist Residence, Jury’s Inn, and Fhloston Paradise to name just a few.

To eat

For traditional earthly sustenance, you could beam yourself to the weekly Street Diner food market. There are also lots of ground-level restaurants and cafés nearby, where you can grab a bite during the lunch break (the lunch break lasts for an hour and a half so you’ll have plenty of time).

For liquid refreshment, the popular fuel known as ‘coffee’ is available from purveyors such as the Small Batch Coffee Company (on New Road, very close to the Brighton Dome Space Port).
